But this book is beset with mischaracterizatoins of French police procedure, errors of French spelling, grammar and syntax, and feats of athletic prowess by Ruth and Nick that are too improbable to credit. It depicted the horrors that some women and children, even boys live in real life, and that was heart wrenching. I don't want to say much, because I don't want to give anything away, but it's definitely worth reading, if you read the rest of the series, you HAVE to read this book! Super Ruth goes to France and plows her way through the countryside, pushing aside officials and French law enforcement as she tries to rescue her one true love. At the end of this book, Ruth should be in jail, but, you know, heroine...And as it turns out, Sarah is not entirely who Ruth thought she was. OK then. • 1.0 out of 5 stars from ATLANTIS -- Dreadful : So disappointed. Loved all the books and have been recommending this author to friends. It was utterly ridiculous, seriously!!! Two cops manage to do all this Tom Cruise type running and jumping, and fighting off dangerous gangsters. Had to skim read through the end, couldn’t bear it any more. Sick to death of the missing girlfriend theme now, no more please. It’s just like the missing wife Sandy in the Peter James books, goes on too long. It’s not James Bond. • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Hz -- Should re-titled the Sarah saga. : This should be re-titled as 'The Sarah Saga' now in its umpteenth book. I read the early ones and they were excellent. The original cameos of the missing Sarah were ok, but now done to death in the latest novel. Sadly not literally! There is little 'sleuthing' going on, just a caricature of James Bond car chases and roof to roof jumping. The detective Ruth Hunter's death defying leaps in France to track down an early lover would challenge Daniel Craig's stunt man. Contrived, unbelievable and the long lost Sarah turns out to be an utterly selfish and unlikeable character. Ruth deserves better than this idiot and I can't believe she took her back! This of course means the far from lovely Sarah is now in Wales. Not sure if I can stand reading a book with her in; hopefully Simon will kill her off!
